A Dartmouth man has been charged with attempted murder after an alleged stabbing in Lake Echo over the weekend.

RCMP officers were called to reports of a stabbing around 2 p.m. Saturday at a home on Bumpy Ln. According to police, a woman had gone to the home to check on a woman she knew, and found that person had been stabbed. The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Mounties say it’s believed the woman was stabbed by a man known to her the evening before.

On Sunday afternoon, a 57-year-old Dartmouth man turned himself in at the HRP HQ in Halifax.

Police now say Oscar Allison Purdy is facing charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault and was expected in court on Monday.
