Traffic to cross Halifax bridges for free on Christmas Day

By CityNews Halifax Staff

Halifax Harbour Bridges is handing Haligonians a little gift on Christmas Day.

In a release, HHB announced that it will continue its longstanding tradition of raising its toll gates and allowing traffic to cross the bridges on December 25 without charge.

“Not charging tolls on Christmas Day is a nice way to conclude the year and say thank you to our employees and customers,” says HHB CEO Tony Wright in the release.

Both the Angus L. Macdonald and A. Murray MacKay bridges in Halifax suspend the tolls.

The toll-free period will begin at 12 a.m. on Dec. 25 and will last for 24 hours.
