RCMP say they have charged a man related to hate-motivated incidents in Antigonish.

Antigonish County District RCMP arrested a man on Monday after receiving a report of a person causing a disturbance to a group in a public park. Police initially heard on July 24 about a man who racially harassed a woman in a park who objected to his using a mobile device to record a group the day before.

In a release, officials said they received another report on July 28 that a man was observed leaving garbage and urine at the entrance to a mosque in the town.

On August 12, officers arrested 69-year-old Daniel Doiron of Antigonish, in relation to the incidents.

He has been charged with causing a disturbance and mischief motivated by bias, prejudice or hate.

He was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on Oct. 16.
