Mooseheads down Oceanic with overtime win
The Halifax Mooseheads took to the road on Wednesday night, looking to build on Sunday’s win in Saint John.
It wasn’t very long after taking the ice in Rimouski that the Moose were behind when Jacob Mathieu notched his 29th on the season to put the Oceanic up 1-0.
Just 1:51 into the second frame, the Mooseheads would tie the contest after Caylen Blake beat Mathis Langevin, Liam Kilfoil and Owen Phillips with assists on the goal. 10 minutes later, the Herd would take advantage of a power play when Antoine Fontaine found the back of the net to make the score 2-1. Brady Shultz with the lone assist on the go-ahead goal.

Both teams were held off the scoresheet through the end of regulation time, and the game would go to overtime. The Mooseheads would grab the win just over 2 minutes into the extra frame on a Braden McPhee goal. Liam Kilfoil and Carlos Handel with assists on the game-winner.
McPhee and goalie Jacob Steinman grabbed 1st and 2nd star honours, while Jacob Mathieu nabbed the 3rd star of the game.
With the win, the Mooseheads improve their record to 13-21-6 on the season and will look to build on their two-game winning streak Friday night in Drummondville. Game time is 8 o’clock, and you can catch all of the action on 95.7 NewsRadio with Garreth MacDonald.
