A rainfall warning has been issued for Halifax Regional Municipality and a significant portion of Nova Scotia, including Shelburne, Queens, Lunenburg, and Halifax counties.
Environment Canada issued the warning this morning, forecasting rain to begin across most areas today, with HRM seeing rain by early afternoon.
Total rainfall amounts are expected to range from 25 to 35 mm, with the weather agency noting it’s possible some areas could see up to 50 mm.
Environment Canada warns that such rainfall, especially at this time of year, could lead to localized flooding.
The rain is expected to continue through the evening and overnight hours, tapering off tomorrow morning.
Thursday is a high of 8 C with wind starting to pick up and gusting to 60 km/h over the day. Due to the warm atmosphere it’s possible fog could develop and a thunderstorm could occur.
Temperatures will drop overnight to 4 C and the cold front sweeping across Ontario and Quebec will travel to Halifax over the next several days.
Saturday cool weather should return, the forecast reads, with a low of -8 C.
