Police in Halifax Regional Municipality are consistently catching people who are drinking and then getting behind the wheel.
In February, there were 43 people charged with impaired-related offences, just down two from January. Of those, 22 people were charged with drunk driving, and four are facing offences for being impaired by drugs.
A further 17 drivers were issued suspensions for operation of a conveyance while having consumed alcohol.
Officers say the drivers who provided breath samples had a wide range of blood alcohol concentrations. Seven of those people had twice the legal limit, five refused to give samples and were charged for that.
In January police caught 15 people with twice the legal limit.
Halifax police are thanking the public for their help, saying 16 calls from people helped take impaired people off the road.
This comes after RCMP released impaired driving statistics from last year, which showed the vast majority of people are being charged for driving drunk in the province.
There were 1,398 drivers charged with impaired-related offences in 2024 across Nova Scotia.
