Halifax mayor to deliver first State of the Municipality address

Mayor Andy Fillmore will deliver his first State of the Municipality address to a business audience in downtown Halifax on Monday.

After years of hearing from former mayor Mike Savage, this marks Fillmore’s first formal address since taking office.

The event, hosted by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce and Halifax Partnership, is billed as an opportunity for business and community leaders to connect directly with the mayor.

Chamber president Patrick Sullivan says the city is growing, and the event is a way for people to learn about the collective path forward.

Wendy Luther, president and CEO of the Halifax Partnership, says economic growth is about building a thriving community with opportunity accessible to all, and the State of the Municipality offers a chance to reflect on progress and challenges.

Fillmore is expected to speak around the noon hour.
