RCMP investigating attempted robbery in Cole Harbour

RCMP in Cole Harbour say a man is in custody following an attempted car theft in a grocery store parking lot.

Police responded to a report of two men fighting inside a vehicle on Forest Hills Parkway around 6:05 p.m. Friday. When officers arrived, one of the men allegedly attempted to flee and was arrested with the help of a conducted energy weapon.

Investigators say the 31-year-old man was trying to steal the car and was confronted by the vehicle’s owner. Both men, who are known to each other, sustained minor injuries.

The suspect was taken to hospital and remains in custody. The vehicle owner was treated at the scene and released.

RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
