Man, 72, dead after crash in Hammonds Plains

The RCMP says a 72-year-old man died in a car crash in Hammonds Plains on Sunday.

According to police, the crash happened around 8:40 p.m. at Kingswood Drive and Terradore Lane, when a Ford Edge went through the intersection and hit a fire hydrant before coming to rest in the tree line.

Police say the man driving the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, and it is believed he suffered a medical incident leading to the crash.

A 70-year-old woman in the passenger seat was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police say.
