The municipality has scheduled a public hearing on June 19 for people to share their views on proposed updates to the regional plan.
The regional plan establishes long-term planning policies and outlines where, when, and how future growth and development should take place between now and 2031.
The current plan has been in place since 2014, with council initiating a review in 2020. Councillors got a first look at the new proposed plan earlier this month.
That proposed plan anticipates HRM will grow to support a population of one million in the long term.
“Given the dynamic nature of population growth and the planning system, this process should be considered iterative in nature,” the report from staff reads.
A public hearing on the update will happen at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the council chambers at City Hall.
People interested in speaking are asked to sign up as soon as possible. More information on the proposed plan is available on the city’s website.
