RCMP investigates fatal crash in East Hants

The RCMP says a 79-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in East Hants over the weekend.

According to police, emergency crews were called to the crash on Saturday at about 9:40 a.m. on Highway 215 in Selma.

“Responding officers located a Nissan Rogue that appeared to have gone off the road into a ditch and hit a culvert,” read a media release from the RCMP. “The driver and only occupant, a 79-year-old man from Maitland, was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Police say the investigation into the crash is ongoing and a collision reconstructionist attended the scene.

The highway was closed for a period of time but has since reopened.
