MacKay Bridge to close for maintenance this weekend

Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) says there is another closure scheduled for the MacKay Bridge this weekend.
From 8 p.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Monday, crews will be working on the bridge. The closure will allow workers to safely remove cable inspection platforms and the demolition of the back ramp of the bridge garage.
Because large cranes are required, the closure is weather-dependent, particularly for wind. People who still need to cross the harbour can use the Macdonald bridge, which will remain open.
To help reduce congestion, ferry service will be free to all passengers throughout the closure period.
HHB is urging drivers to allow extra time to reach their destinations, plan ahead, consider alternate routes and use public transit where possible.
The bridge will close at 8 p.m. Friday and will reopen Monday at 5:30 a.m.
