Halifax Regional Police charge three drivers for stunting

Regional police have charged three different drivers for stunting this week in Halifax Regional Municipality.

The first incident happened on Monday at roughly 1 p.m., when an officer caught a vehicle travelling 132 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on Highway 111 near the 6B off-ramp.

Police said a 31-year-old man was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act.

The following day at roughly 1:40 p.m., an officer caught a vehicle going 112 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Highway 7 near Westphal Way.

HRP said a 29-year-old woman was ticketed for stunting. She was also ticketed for operating a vehicle without valid inspection sticker or valid inspection sticker in vehicle and operating motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

The final incident took place on Wednesday morning when an officer caught a vehicle travelling 156 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Highway 102 near the exit 4C off ramp.

A 26-year-old man was ticketed for stunting under the Motor Vehicle Act.

According to HRP, a stunting charge is laid when a vehicle is travelling more than 50 km/h over the speed limit. It also comes with a fine of $2,422.50, six points assigned to the driver’s record, a seven-day suspension and the vehicle is seized.
