Driver issued ticket after woman struck in crosswalk

Regional police were called to downtown Halifax for a pedestrian who was struck and seriously injured.

The incident happened around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Quinpool Road at Quingate Place. Officials said that the vehicle and pedestrian collided when the woman was in the marked crosswalk.

The 72-year-old pedestrian was sent to hospital in serious condition, the release notes.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a ticket.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
