The Halifax Stanfield International Airport is expanding, and that means passengers will pay a little more to leave.
The airport authority is finalizing its 10-year capital plan, which will improve and upgrade airport services.
Part of the plan includes an increase to the airport improvement fee, which will go up from $15 to $20 dollars. The fee will be applied to tickets purchased after Oct. 1 for flights leaving as of Jan. 1, 2011.
The hike will bring in about $6.5 million a year to pay for runway upgrades, more snow and ice equipment, new check-in kiosks and expanding the terminal building.
