Halifax man facing numerous child pornography charges

A 38-year-old Halifax man is facing three child pornography charges after a nearly 4 month long investigation.
Police say they began looking into the matter on April 13, after receiving information about a nude picture of a young child on a social media site.
Investigators in the Internet Child Exploitation Unit searched a residence in the 5800 block of West Street at 7:40 Thursday morning.
Police seized a document and a number of electronic devices, and arrested a man inside.
38-year-old Darreel James Smith has been charged with possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography and accessing child pornography.
Smith is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on August 9.
