Halifax Regional Police continue to hope for new information as they mark the 65th anniversary of a man's murder.
At around 2 a.m. on Dec. 9, 1955, a taxi driver called police to report a delivery van that was parked in a way that seemed out of place on Acadia Street near Roome.
Responding officers found the body of Michael Leo Resk in the back of the van. He had been shot.
Investigators believe Michael had left his Poplar Street home late in the evening on Dec. 8 to help lock up his Gottingen Street store for the night. He never made it.
Anyone with information who hasn't already talked to police is asked to get in touch with them by calling 902-490-5016.
“What may seem like an insignificant detail could be the key to progressing the investigation into Michael's murder,” said HRP in a news release.
Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
The case is also part of the province's Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program, which offers up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. All calls to 1-888-710-9090 are recorded and those who come forward need to provide their name and contact information, and might be called to testify in court.
