Fire damages roof at North End Burger King restaurant

Officials say a morning fire on Thursday at the Burger King at the intersection of Young St. and Kempt Rd. is believed to have started on the roof.

Crews were called to reports of smoke at the building just after 10 a.m.

A number of HRFE trucks responded to the call, including two aerial trucks that were deployed to allow firefighters to gain access to the small fire, which appeared to be located near equipment on the roof of the building.

Officials say it’s believed the fire was started accidentally on the roof as welders were working. There’s no estimate on the cost of damage caused by the fire, but no injuries were reported.
