Armed Forces training to take place in Halifax Harbour starting Friday

The Department of National Defence says maritime extraction training is scheduled to happen in Halifax from November 1 to 7.

“Aircraftand personnel from 413 Transport and Rescue Squadron, 14 Wing Greenwood, will lead a maritime extraction training exercise in partnership with the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Coast Guard and other Search and Rescue (SAR) organizations in Halifax,” read a media release from DnD.

The training exercise will focus on getting simulated patients off of marine vessels in the Halifax Harbour.

It will include night training from November 1 to 6 between 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., including flares launched from a CC-130H Hercules aircraft to illuminate areas around the harbour and McNabs Island.

“All missions are subject to schedule changes based on evolving operational conditions throughout the exercise,” the release said.
