Cobequid Health Centre reopening after boiler issue

The Cobequid Community Health Centre is reopening as of noon on Thursday after a boiler problem sent smoke through the facility.

The hospital closed after crews responded to a fire alarm around 6:40 a.m.

“Fire officials determined one of the facility’s boilers was burning fuel inefficiently due to incomplete combustion, causing smoke to circulate throughout the building,” read a statement from Nova Scotia Health. “There was no actual fire.”

The health authority says patients with blood collection appointments scheduled for this afternoon at Cobequid can go there, or can head to the Bayers Road blood collection centre at their scheduled time. People with diagnostic imaging appointments will be contacted.
