Man arrested after series of robberies in Dartmouth

Halifax Regional Police say a string of similar robberies in Dartmouth last week has now led to the arrest of a man.

According to officers, the first robbery happened on Jan. 8 at the Petro Canada on Portland Street. Police say two masked suspects entered the store, sprayed the employee with a sensory irritant, and made off with money, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

The following night, police responded to a theft at the nearby Irving gas station, also on Portland Street. They say a single suspect grabbed cigarettes from behind the counter and ran off on foot.

On Jan. 10, a man entered the Woodlawn Convenience store and sprayed an employee with sensory irritant and made off with lottery tickets.

Finally on Jan. 11, a man stole cigarettes from the Esso gas station on Main Street after what police call a brief physical altercation.

On Tuesday, police arrested Jordan Peter Cusack, 35, and charged him with robbery and failing to comply with a probation order.

Police are asking anyone with information to reach out to them or anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
