Police pull over vehicle containing guns, crossbow and drugs

A traffic stop in Halifax uncovered a cache of weapons that included two firearms and a crossbow.

According to Halifax Regional Police, officers pulled over a vehicle at a checkpoint on the Bedford Highway near Bayview Drive on Jan. 11 around 2:30 a.m., suspecting an impaired driver.

As a result, a 31-year-old man was arrested, and a search of the vehicle revealed the weapons as well as a quantity of cash and drugs.

The 31-year-old driver appeared in court to face charges including several weapons charges, tampering with a serial number on a firearm, impaired driving charges and other charges.

A 32-year-old passenger in the vehicle also appeared in court to face charges that included several weapons charges as well as drug trafficking and laundering charges connected to a criminal organization.
