Teen charged after driving twice the speed limit on busy New Glasgow road

Police in New Glasgow have charged a teenager for stunting after the youth was recorded driving twice the speed limit.

According to police, an officer conducting traffic enforcement on East River Road on Sunday observed a Honda Civic travelling 103 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone.

East River Road is a busy thoroughfare in Pictou County, and at the time of the incident, police say traffic volume was considered moderate to heavy.

New Glasgow Police have charged the 17-year-old driver from Pictou County with stunting.

A ticket for a first time stunting offence is almost $2,500 dollars as well as six demerit points and a seven-day license suspension.

Police say the vehicle was also seized.
