Stabbing on Spring Garden Road not believed to be random: HRP

Police are asking for the public’s help after a stabbing in Halifax sent one person to hospital.
Halifax Regional Police say that on Sunday around 3 a.m., officers responded to a report of an injured person lying on the sidewalk in the 5600 block of Spring Garden Road.
Arriving officers located a 44-year-old man suffering from a stab wound.
“We respond at any point of the day,” says Cst. Martin Cromwell with the Halifax Regional Police. “Either way, it is an alarming incident, so no matter what, we’re always going to respond and make sure everyone in the area is safe, no matter what time of day it is.”
In a release, police say officers provided first aid at the scene before the man was transported to hospital by EHS with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the incident is not believed to be random.
“Through the officer’s investigation, they find evidence or information that leads them to believe there may be some connection between the victim and the suspect,” says Cromwell. “Unfortunately, beyond that, I can’t get into any additional details.”
Cromwell says police could not provide a suspect description either, nor an update on the victim’s status at this time.
The incident comes just two days after a 30-year-old man was found with stab wounds lying on Cunard Street; however, Cromwell notes there’s no evidence to suggest the two incidents are related.
