Two popular lakes in Halifax Regional Municipality are getting new washroom facilities.
Halifax Regional Council has approved a tender for new washrooms to be built at Chocolate Lake and Albro Lake.
Right now, Albro Lake has a washroom in poor condition and Chocolate Lake only has porta-potties. Along with the restrooms, the lakes will also get a change room, landscaping upgrades and emergency access to the beach.
The work will cost about $1.5 million and is set to start at the end of the month. It’s scheduled for completion by December.
About 24,000 people visited the two lakes last year.
Washrooms have also recently been added at Shubie Park, the Halifax Common, Sandy Lake and DeWolf park.
