N.S. police launch Operation Christmas

The season of Christmas parties and Christmas cheer is here.

That means many of us will enjoy some Christmas spirits and some will make the poor decision to get behind the wheel afterwards, but police will be out to catch you.

Today was the province-wide launch of Operation Christmas.

The annual campaign aims to reduce impaired driving and encourage motorists to practice safe winter driving with checkpoints throughout the region to ensure that drivers are sober and educated on the dangers of getting behind the wheel after drinking.

Police say they continue to be encouraged by the number of citizens helping to play a role in community safety. If you have information on a drunk driver, call 9-1-1.
