The Grinch v. Whoville: the 12th Annual Weldon Literary Moot

Thursday, March 23, 2023 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

On Thursday, March 23rd at 7pm, Dalhousie law students will host the 12th Annual Weldon Literary Moot in support of The Halifax Humanities Society. This year, the comic mock trial will be based on the characters in Seuss's beloved How the Grinch Stole Christmas, as the titular Grinch seeks to resolves his troubles by bringing the matter of public nuisance against the Whos of Whoville.

Performers include local lawyers, law students and faculty, and volunteer professors with Halifax Humanities.

The event will be held in Room 105 of the Weldon Law Building on Dalhousie's Studley Campus. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for the general public, with options to add a donation to your ticket price. Tickets are available through Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-grinch-v-whoville-the-12th-annual-weldon-literary-moot-tickets-558743445687).

The funds raised at this event will support The Halifax Humanities Society, a non-profit organization committed to offering free, non-credit, university-level humanities education to adults living on low incomes in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Students from a range of ages and backgrounds come together with volunteer university professors to study great works of Western philosophy, literature, political theory, theology, and art, at no cost whatsoever to students.
