Nova Scotia's paid sick leave program returns today.
The program re-opens to applications at 1 p.m. Monday.
It's for workers who have to stay home due to COVID-19 and are not able to do their job remotely. Those eligible, including self-employed workers, can get up to four sick leave days
The program covers workers who miss less than 50 per cent of their scheduled work time in a one-week period.
It's retroactive to December 20 and will continue until March 31.
When the sick leave program first launched last year, it covered 4,000 sick days from May 10 to July 31.
The Nova Scotia Federation of Labour is calling on the province to bring in a permanent, 10-day employer paid sick leave program.
The organization says the current program is not good enough and puts workers in the unacceptable position of choosing between staying home or paying the bills.
