SPCA asking for donations to help care for 35 dogs rescued from puppy mill

By Dan Ahlstrand

The Nova Scotia SPCA says it has seized a number of dogs and puppies from a puppy mill near Wolfville.

In a post to their facebook page, the SPCA says they removed 29 dogs and 6 puppies yesterday, one of the biggest ever seizures in their history.

Chief Provincial Inspector Jo-Anne Landsburg telling Global news officials are now in the process of triaging the animals to assess their health and to determine which of the animals requires urgent care.

Landsburg also says that the animals have been taken to a secure facility, but given the large number of animals involved it's an extremely complex operation. Global also reporting the SPCA began their investigation back in September, after reports of mistreatment were made by visitors.

The SPCA says sheltering and caring for the seized dogs will be expensive and have posted a link to their facebook page where people can make donations to help with the costs.
