Environment Canada has added a wind warning to the list of weather advisories currently in effect for the Halifax area.

As of 6:20 p.m. Monday, meteorologists say southerly wind gusts could reach 90 to 100 km/h along the Atlantic coast Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

“High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break,” the warning said.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.”

A rainfall warning issued Monday morning continues with heavy rains expected to linger into Tuesday morning. A total of 30 to 50 mm is expected to fall, but that could be higher in some spots.

Environment Canada has also issued a special weather statement with snow in the forecast Wednesday night and into Thursday.
