The Bedford United Church says a Black Lives Matter banner was vandalized and its place of worship was broken into earlier this week.
According to a post on the church's Facebook page, bricks were thrown through a window in the sanctuary, and collection plates and a cross were stolen.
Halifax Regional Police say the break and enter at 1200 Bedford Highway happened sometime between the evening of January 26 and the early morning of January 27.
“The investigation by members of the General Investigation Section of Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is in the early stages and at this point, we can't speculate on the motive,” said police in a news release.
“Investigators are looking into whether both incidents are connected.”
