No one was injured in a Wednesday morning fire in Halifax's north end.

Videos posted to social media show thick black smoke billowing in the Kempt Rd. area.

Deputy chief Dave Meldrum says crews were called to the scene at around 9 a.m.

“Our firefighters encountered a large fire on the outside of the building which we understand is a self-storage business,” he said.”The fire involved a scissor lift and an outside storage shed.”

“The fire was quickly knocked down by an aggressive fire attack by the first arriving fire crews.”

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency says the fire is now under control.

According to a tweet from their @hfxfire account adds crews are expected to be on scene for some time, so there may be some traffic delays in that area.
