Stolen vehicle used in robbery, then set on fire

By Meghan Groff

Local police are investigating after a vehicle reported stolen was used in a Waverley robbery, then set of fire.

At around 9 p.m. Saturday, RCMP were called to a gas station on Rocky Lake Drive.

Officers were in the area investigating an unrelated incident and the spotted a speeding blue Honda Civic.

They tried to pull the car over. The driver refused to stop, but the officers ran the licence plate and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Once police arrived at the gas station, they were told two men wearing black hoodies, gloves and masks demanded money and cigarettes before taking off in a blue Honda Civic. One of the men also had on leather boots.

Soon after, Halifax Regional Police were told a vehicle was on fire in an Olivet Street parking lot. The licence plate matched the one from the robbery, but officers weren't able to track down the two persons of interest.

Anyone with information is asked to call 902-490-5020 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
