Mixed-martial arts fighter identified as murder victim

Halifax Regional Police have confirmed a man who died on the weekend was murdered.
Timothy John Kelly, 44, was found lying outside his home around 10 p.m. Saturday, suffering from several gunshot wounds.
“Two individuals on the 7,000 block of Abbott St. noticed an injured male suffering from wounds to his head, abdomen and arms,” said Cst. Brian Palmeter. “Police, fire and ambulance attended and the male was taken to the hospital where unfotunately he died.”
Palmeter says the case is being treated as a homicide, the city’s 10th of the year. An autopsy will be performed today.
Investigators combing the scene on Sunday found bullet holes in Kelly’s house.
“We did discover what appears to be a bullet hole through the side door of the residence,” said Palmeter. “However at this point, we don’t have any reports of anybody hearing gunshots so we’re not sure when this might have occurred or if it’s part of this incident we’re investigating, but it’s a focus of our investigation.”
Palmeter says Kelly, a Sackville car dealership employee and mixed martial arts fighter, was known to police – but he wouldn’t elaborate.
So far there have been no arrests, and Palmeter says anyone with information is asked to contact police.
