Half of Atlantic Canadians get pay raise in 2009

Despite the recession, half of Atlantic Canadians received a raise in 2009.
On average, about 55 per cent of working Atlantic Canadians saw their pay checks increase by about 1.8 per cent.
According to Corporate Research Associates Newfoundland and Labrador handed out the most raises with 64 percent of employees seeing 3 per cent increases.
Exactly half of Nova Scotians got a hike including a few people we spoke to at the corner of Young and Robie.
“My raise was pretty significant,” said one man “I have a raise coming up”, said a woman
On the other hand, some of us didn’t get that raise we were hoping for.
“We didn’t get any raise,” said one man. “I’ve had no raise this year at all,” said another.
The average raise in Nova Scotia was 1.4 per cent.
A few people said they were self-employed and didn’t up their own salary, but did so for their staff.
