The timing of the holidays has Canadian Blood Services worried.
Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on Fridays and officials says they’ll have fewer days to collect blood – though the demand remains constant at hospitals.
Peter MacDonald, director of donor and clinic services, tells the Herald donations usually slow down during the holidays so the need is even greater.
Special clinics will be held at the Gottingen Street clinic in Halifax on Christmas Eve from 8:15 a.m. to 11 p.m., December 28th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and New Year’s Eve from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
