Second HRP officer assaulted by suspect

Another Halifax Regional Police officer has been hurt in an assault by a suspect.
The plainsclothes officer had stopped a car on Farrell Road Thursday and asked the driver to get out of the car, after identifying themselves as police.
The driver opened the door – but then put the car in reverse, hitting the officer with the door.
The officer wasn’t seriously hurt, and the suspect was arrested.
Earlier this week, a man being transported to the police station got into a major tussle with an officer on the Bedford Highway and badly injuring the officer’s eye.
James David Brown, 30, of Sackville is charged with assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, escaping custody and two breach violations.
Brown will go to court once he gets out of hospital.
