Winter ‘weather bomb’ lashes Halifax

It made travel difficult and turned going outside into a painful experience.

Ice pellets, snow and freezing rain had made their mark on Metro by Saturday afternoon, and kept many people inside and off the roads.

The massive storm system was expected to bring total snowfall amounts between 15 and 35 centimetres to the province.  Places farther away from the water were in for more snow.

“Right now the temperature’s starting to climb, so we’re looking at extended periods of ice pellets and freezing rain,” said News95.7 Meteorologist Richard Zurawski.  “This system is huge — it extends right into central New Brunswick.”

Zurawski forecasted inclement weather to stay in the region until late Sunday.  He said Saturday afternoon that the storm system had stalled over the region.
