Child passenger on motorcycle in life-threatening condition after crash

Emergency responders were called to West Chezzetcook on Sunday afternoon for a serious collision involving a child.

RCMP from the Halifax detachment are investigating after a vehicle and motorcycle collided on Aug. 16 around 4:30 p.m. The pair crashed at the intersection of Highway 207 and Bellefontaine Road.

Police said in a release that a Toyota Matrix was turning left onto the highway when a Honda motorcycle travelling south collided.

The 28-year-old driver of the Matrix, from West Chezzetcook, was treated by paramedics at the scene. The 43-year-old motorcyclist, from Grand Desert, was sent to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, however their passenger, a child sustained life-threatening injuries.

The child was taken from the scene in an EHS LifeFlight.

A collision reconstructionist attended, and the area was closed for several hours.

RCMP say the investigation is ongoing and they are asking anyone with footage or who witnessed the crash to come forward.
