Nova Scotia not attracting enough immigrants: study

Three years from now, Nova Scotia will have more jobs available, than people to fill them.
That’s the prediction from the Halifax Chamber of Commerce.
“Population studies are telling us by the 2013 there’s going to be more jobs in Nova Scotia then people to fill them,” says chamber of commerce president Valerie Payn.
Immigration lawyer Lee Cohen says we already have immigrants with lots of skills but getting their credentials recognized takes too long.
“And in that process they become quite disillusioned, sometimes depressed and in some cases impoverished.”
Cohen says there are several ways the immigration system needs to be fixed.
Payn says education, for people already here, will also help fix the looming labour problem.
