N.B. biker club launches chapter in N.S.

A new biker club with ties to the Hell’s Angels is moving into Nova Scotia.

At least eight members of the East Coast Riders have burned their patches and joined the Bacchus club based in New Brunswick.

The bikers formed Bacchus’ first Nova Scotia chapter at a ceremony on the weekend.

Cpl. Steve MacQueen with HRM’s new integrated intelligence unit tells the Herald the Bacchus club is an organized crime group and the new chapter is “staking out” Nova Scotia as their territory.

Bacchus is affiliated with the Hells’ Angels and MacQueen says the Halifax members will be expected to scare off any rival biker groups.

Bacchus member Paul Fowler tells CBC, however, his club is not an organized crime group.

It’s not known yet where the Nova Scotia chapter will set up headquarters.
