Callers hot over political scandal

Callers to News 95.7’s morning talk show sounded off about the spending scandal amongst Nova Scotia’s politicians Thursday.
The phone lines were flooded for two hours straight on Maritime Morning with Andrew Krystal.
“This is unbelievable, if there ever was a scandal this is one,” says Joe in Waverly.
“We’ve got to mobilize, we need to be a voice, we need to be a presence and that’s when we get things done, when we get out and do something about it not just bitch about it all the time.”
Tamara calls it thievery and says if the politicians weren’t guilty, why would they pay it back.
“And (Finance Minister) Graham Steele going around the province saying ‘hey folks we’re broke we all got to do our part’,” says Tamara.
“Give me a break!”
Several callers said the politicians have stolen from the public and should be prosecuted. Meanwhile Sgt. Brigdit Legere says RCMP has no intention of getting involved in the MLA’s expenses scandal.
She says if they received information from Auditor General Jacques Lapointe they would become involved, but he has not approached police.
In fact, Lapointe said this week he did not think police action was warranted because he did not believe there was criminal intent involved in the expense irregularities.
