Province funds Trenton wind turbine project

Nova Scotia is taking part in a joint venture to revive the former TrentonWorks railcar plant.

“Trenton has waited three years to hear good news about this facility and I am pleased to say that that day has finally come,” says Premier Darrell Dexter.

The province has signed a deal with South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo to make wind turbine towers and blades at the abandoned plant in Trenton.

The announcement will mean 120 jobs in the first year of operation, but Dexter says the plant will employ up to 500 people within three years.
