It’s been a good year for Tim Hortons, and the company is celebrating with plans to open hundreds of new outlets.
About 900 locations will be scouted across North America, 600 of those in Canada.
Dalhousie marketing professor, Valerie Trifts explains why the company is expanding when others have be retracting.
“It’s probably been one of the few companies in the last few years over this really bad economic recession that has actually seen its profits grow,” she said. “They have actually had very good success because people again in tough economic times are looking for that cheaper alternative.”
The company won’t say if any of the new stores will be in Nova Scotia, but loyal coffee drinkers know where they’d like to see an extra Timmy’s.
“Anywhere they want to put one to make it a little more convenient for people I’m pretty sure they’re going to show up,” said one man.
“Maybe up in Spryfield, they might need one out there,” said another.
More than one person mentioned a need for more of the company’s Coldstone Creamery ice cream locations.
