The nice weather sparked several brush fires around HRM Wednesday.
Dave Meldrum with Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency says now that the snow has melted, the ground is dry and there’s plenty of surface fuel to catch fire.
At least five trucks were dispatched Wednesday afternoon to fires in different areas of HRM.
Crews were called to a few illegal burns. Meldrum warns to get a burn permit if you need to burn, and adds you can’t get a permit within the city.
He says this is brush fire season and crews are ready for it.
