Police investigate campus assault

Regional and campus police are investigating an alleged assault near Dalhousie campus.

Police say a 19-year-old woman was walking near South and Henry St. around 9 p.m. Wednesday when she says a man approached her and tried to pull her into an alley.

“A man and woman were walking by at the time and they inquired as to what was going on,” says Theresa Rath with Halifax police. “This appears to have either startled the suspect or made him wary of what he was doing, and that allowed the victim to get away from her attacker.”

Rath says the victim was shaken up but not hurt. The incident wasn’t actually reported until closer to 2 a.m. Thursday and police are working with a very vague description of the suspect. He’s said to be a white man with a deep voice.

They’re asking anyone who might have seen anything to call police (490-5020) or Crimestoppers (1-800-222-8477).
