Marking the first day of spring

Although the nice weather came a week early Saturday marks the first day of spring.
Around midnight the sun crossed the equator signalling the beginning of the vernal equinox bringing longer days and warmer temperatures. Halifax has recorded at least two record breaking highs this week.
People tell News 95.7 they are marking the day with barbeques, playing outside and even skiing.
In theory, today is the day when daylight and nigh time are the same length.
