The number of traffic fatalities in the province is on the decline.
Province-wide, 12 people have been killed in traffic collisions so far this year.
RCMP Sgt. Brigdit Legere says the force is encouraged by the declining numbers in the past couple years.
“The numbers are absolutely moving in the direction that we want them to go,” says Legere.
In metro Halifax, Sgt. Dave Reynolds says so far this year no one has been killed in a crash.
“In this case smaller is better and zero is a very encouraging number,” says Reynolds.
Both Halifax police and RCMP say they hope their focus on safety has something to do with it, but they’re not patting themselves on the back just yet.
