Water bomber crashes in NB

A water bomber crashed in Mirimichi, NB Friday afternoon.

The airplane owned by Forest Protection Limited went down shortly after taking off around 2 p.m..

The company’s executive director, David Davies, says they have no information on what caused the bomber to crash.

The pilot was the only one on board however it’s unknown if they were injured.

He says the pilot is experienced and was conducting a practice flight on the TBM Avenger aircraft.

The Transportation and Safety Board will investigate the crash.

Forest Protection is a joint government-industry company that does aerial fire protection, insect control and herbicide programs.
