Spryfield house damaged by fire

Fire officials are working to figure out what caused a house fire in Spryfield.

The blaze broke out in the back of the house on Abrams Way around 7 p.m. Sunday.

Halifax Fire Platoon Chief Gary McCurdy tells the Herald there’s significant damage to the rear and deck area, where it appears the fire started – but damage to the inside of the house was minimal.

The flames melted the vinyl siding on a neighbouring home and damaged a shed. One person was home at the time of the fire, but got out safely.
